So “why can’t I view EdmundLoh.name?” is a question I get all the time. (where were my visitors when I wanted them? LOL)

Firstly, I still continue to write on personal blog EdmundLoh.name regularly. At least a couple of times a month. This is where entries on life outside the computer goes to.

Admittedly, it’s not settling to know that my business associates, customers and people from professional backgrounds come over to my personal blog only to find a mixture of random updates on life when I’m not at the computer cranking out my next PLR product. (there’s also a good reason why I’m more careful with what I write on my Facebook profile now!)

When some of my friends started to get weird and confused ideas on what I really do, that decided it. It has reached a point where I have to totally separate the personal blog from everything else I do, including taking it off the search engines.

Thus I made my personal blog password-protected and only my circle of friends and people who I know in person get access to the site.

Now I cannot remember every single person who’s got access to my personal blog. But if you are friend of mine and don’t have access just yet, please let me know (you can drop me a message on Facebook) and I’ll reply with the login and password a.s.a.p.!

Hope this clarifies things if you’ve been wondering why EdmundLoh.name has been inaccessible all these while.

P.P.S. As to whether EdmundLoh.name will be open for public again, I might change my mind in the near future though I think that’s unlikely to happen anytime soon… especially after my explanation above!

Anyways I’ve got news to share with you… I bought a new home!

I purchased the new house in Johor late last year (at a great bargain, I must add). After all the tedious paperwork and renovation done, my mom and sister moved into our new home in April.

And it was only recently I went to Johor to pay the new house my first visit in its post-renovation state!

The house is gorgeous, it’s near town, very peaceful and not many people around. A writer’s heaven, really. The surrounding tranquil reminds me of my earlier days when I started my Internet Business back in humble ole’ Gelang Patah.

I’m based in Petaling Jaya / Kuala Lumpur like 90% of the time now. But being here in this new home for just a few days made me wished I’d stay longer. The tranquil almost made me change my mind about staying in PJ/KL. Almost!

I’m happy that the years of hard work in building my own online business paid off. And to see my family in the comfort of our new home? Priceless, money can’t buy the smile on their faces!

3rd March 2010. That’s today.

It’s been five years since I first started my online business. And where did my broken computer and a teeeeerribly slow dial-up modem bring me to?

The steep learning curves I had to overcome.

The sleepless nights I went through, wondering whether I could pay my bills on time.

The very first online sale I made.

The great online friends I made, who would go on to make a positive impression on my business and my life.

Met some amazing people whom I am honored to meet in person… hopefully more to come!

The product launches I pulled off – some did good, some not so, but the few that did great made it all beyond worthwhile.

The rewards of time and financial freedom that finally came… which I had been fighting to get to since I was day dreaming about back in school.

The skills and lessons I had learned about myself and people around me.

Aah… What a journey it’s been!

I’m happy to belong to the 5% business that survives the first five years. Now the next mile stone: 2015 – being the top 5% business that is around for 10 years!

yay YAY yay!

I can really, really say that I’ve never had so much fun in a long, long time. Or rather, in my life! The last 2 months have been sky high for me. And looking back, Year 2009 has been the greatest year for me to date.

It had been challenging. It had been exciting. And I gained a lot of new experience in so many things I would have never even thought of trying, or getting into.

It’s easy to understand why when I review and reflect again.

January 2009: Trip Around the Country!

Spent the first month of the year going around states in the country!

Went to Genting Highlands (again!). Went to Desaru. Started my first life-changing Forex journey with Orange Roshan and the SRDC’ians in KL. Relatives came over to visit us in Johor Bahru. We also paid our Singaporean relatives a visit during Chinese New Year.

February 2009: Visit Sydney, Australia!

Met up with my online marketing friend Aurelius Tjin. Attended the Sydney online entrepreneurs gathering. Climbed the Harbour Bridge. Visited the Three Sisters. And did a whole lot more fun stuff while I was here for one whole week!

March – April 2009: Gadget Pimping and GIS Penang

This was probably the most challenging time for me. Broke up with my ex-girlfriend and as it is my first relationship, well, I took it rather badly and bitterly. Got back in… and got a strike-out again! Sucks to the max.

I was still primarily based in Johor Bahru at this point, and I wanted to start anew. Figured being busy with something else would keep me occupied from heartache so I went on a personal ‘make over’. Hmm… found out shopping isn’t such a bad thing either.

Pimped myself up with new gadgets – Playstation 3, new custom suit, got my own car (and gave the Myvi to my mom). Plans were underway to move to PJ to start anew.

Right about the same time, I was invited as a main speaker to speak for the Global Internet Summit event in Penang.

May 2009: Mega Red Packet and Moving to PJ

Pulled off the mega product launch finally, after six months of working on the Mega Red Packet project! More than $300,000 in total sales in 10 days! It was exhaustive, but I had to move on to the next phase of life: moving to PJ on my own.

Settled in, bought new furniture and had a house warming party to celebrate with friends a bit.

Wild Goose Chase!

Hah! This is another interesting, HUGE highlight of 2009. From the time I met Elle Wong, it’s been a wild goose chase for riches! It almost felt as if we were casted into a movie of our own, like the Indiana Jones version for racing to make lots of moo-lah!

Am I making this up? You decide.

Started off with attending the Millionaire Mind Intensive 3-day seminar in The Mines, KL…

The very next day after the seminar, we pulled off Brand Dynamics PLR launch together – making this the first Private Label Rights product to have both male and female voice over.

Hey, we didn’t stop here though. We hosted the IM Weekend Workshop next. My first time hosting a workshop of my own. I’m so used to working from home.

We didn’t stop here either. NEXT… (how many times did I use that word? LOL)

We went to Singapore to attend a follow-up seminar on MMI called Guerrilla Business Intensive by T Harv Eker.

Oh, not forgetting we met up with Calvin Woon, Patricia Lin and Maritius buddy Jonathan Teng. Jhong Ren tagged along too.

THEN… we pulled off a bigger launch than Brand Dynamics – called the 7-Day PLR Sale. Did above $50,000 in sales in 7 days in November. Woo Hoo! $ $ $ $ $

I’ve done better launches but for the work we put in, it was well worth it. Not to mention I was pulling off my ‘last minute king’ here.

WE DIDN’T STOP HERE… early this month we went to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah to attend the Orange Roshan SRDC Bootcamp!

WOOOOO HOOOOOOO…!

July 2009: Bought My First House!

Lakeview house for Mom and Ashley in Johor. We never had a property of our own before. Where my father had failed to do so for my family, I’m glad I’m able to provide!

Right about the same time, I also formed my own company in Malaysia called AMLOH CORPORATION SDN. BHD. Hey, paperwork is insane and I nearly went crazy when I first started it out. The procedures to set up, pay taxes and handling the legalities were highly frustrating and later got the hang out of it.

Oh hey, also visited Bangkok, Thailand

December 2009: Orang Asli Trip, Ex-DJian Gathering and RYM Xmas Party

The best month was saved for the last of the year! Rejoined the church I used to go to when I was a teenager, I went on a trip to the Orang Asli settlement in Kuantan, Pahang.

Also reunited with old school friends from SMKDJ…

Okay I know this isn’t the most suitable pic to describe the gathering in one picture (haven’t got hold on more pics from the gathering yet!). But hey, I’m not complaining.

Also the RYM Xmas Party towards the near end of the year…

All in all… it’s been amazing for me. I hope it’s been for you too this year. And I know 2010 holds much more in store for all of us.

Being in a totally different country and culture for the first time, I still bought myself the daily papers. And in spite of the bad news I kept reading about (not to mention the *ahem* nude pics I would always see on Page 3) one article stood out from the rest. And it quickly became my inspiration to strive for and create my own success, no matter my current circumstances at that time.

FAST FORWARD 6 years later: I was clearing my cupboard in my house in Johor Bahru and as I was going through my old collection and ‘memorabila’s from the past, a familiar piece of newspaper fell out of place. I unfolded it and… gosh, I was soooo sure my mom threw it away with the rest of the old stuff before!

A LAD who fled home to sleep rough has beaten a gambling addiction to become a top bank boss – aged just 23.

Lawrence Brown was 17 wen he quit A-levels and ran away to London to escape £1,500 debts he ran up by blowing £60 a week on slot-machines.

But he now earns £50,000 a year running one of Barclay’s main branches in London’s Charing Cross. He has TWO homes in the capital and his own cleaning firm. Lawrence left home in 1997, after writing his mum Dulcie James a note telling her he had gone to London to make a fresh start.

She begged on TV for him to return home to South Cerney, Glos. But, as he slept on streets and in hostels, he was too ashamed to call.

Last night he told The Sun how he hit rock bottom as he went without food for a week to pay for gambling.

“That’s when it hit home,” he said. “I realised I needed to be a responsible adult and move forward to concentrate on building up a career.”

His rags-to-riches climb from the gutter began when he landed a council flat and a shop assistant’s post at top London store Selfridges.

COURAGE

He then landed a junior job at Barclays before rising to branch manager – first in London’s Leicester Square and London’s Charing Cross.

He also runs recruitment for seven other Barclays branches. But he admits his mum was his greatest boost after he found the courage to get back in touch. He said: “I couldn’t have done it without her. She stuck by me in thick and thin.

“She’s more than a mum – she’s a friend and role model.”

Chef Dulcie, 45, who now advises parents of young addicts, said: “Lawrence wanted to be an accountant but lost his way.”

“He got in a hole financially and did not know how to face me, so ran away.

“But he has done exceptionally well and I’m very proud.”

A Barclays spokeswoman said the bank prides itself on “embracing people from all backgrounds”.

And even though private labeled products are often perceived to be inferior in offline businesses, some smart companies and retailers have successfully used Private Label Rights to skyrocket their annual sales and profits – up to as phenomenal as 300%!

In fact, a book entitled “The Private Label Strategy” have documented a detailed account on how retailers like Wal-Mart and TESCO do it with private label marketing.

Did you know? Product brands are now competing for shelf spaces even with their own retailers! When you walk into chain retailers like TESCO and Giant, did you notice there are products with these brands on? You see, they have purchased the Private Label Rights to raw materials and ready-made goods to rebrand and sell as their own product.

So think about it:

(a) If the consumer buys a bottle of mineral water from another brand, the chain retailer earns a cut from it.

(b) But if the consumer buys the chain retailer’s brand, it keeps the entire sale!

This may not seem significant but when you factor in volume, it can become quite staggering. These big industry players have reported to bring in three times the annual sales and thus increase their profit margins too!

And how can you do the same for your Internet Business? If you are currently affiliating for other merchants and you have identified which products sell better, you can buy the Private Label Rights and create another “competitor product” to offer to your target buyers.

Again:

(a) If the buyer buys another merchant’s product through your affiliate link, you earn a commission.

(b) And if the buyer buys YOUR product which you have private labeled, you earn ALL of the sale!

Product creation doesn’t have to necessarily tough anymore, since you can just invest in private labeling your own digital products to sell. And giving your customers more choices means potentially more money you can make!
